The 2023 Interpack Exhibition, one of the world's largest packaging industry trade fairs, was recently held in Düsseldorf, Germany. This triennial event placed a strong emphasis on sustainable transformation within the industry, attracting over 2,800 exhibitors globally, including nearly 300 Chinese companies.
Austrian packaging company unveiled an innovative recyclable cup with a remarkable 98% recyclability rate. The cup consists of two components: an ultra-thin plastic inner layer and an outer cardboard sleeve that provides structural support. The design allows for easy separation during waste processing, significantly improving recycling rates for both materials.
Clemens, Managing Director of the Food Processing and Packaging Machinery Association under the German Engineering Federation (VDMA), noted that packaging machinery manufacturers have successfully implemented sustainable solutions through technological upgrades in recent years. "This year's exhibition showcases the industry's sustainable innovations, which will drive the circular economy forward," he remarked.
An Australian packaging company drew crowds with its virtual factory experience. With 40 years of expertise in integrated food processing and packaging solutions, the company plans to utilize XR technology for remote production line commissioning, installation, and maintenance—reducing both time costs and carbon footprints for clients.
Digitalization enables seamless collaboration and data sharing across packaging design and production processes. Industry experts emphasize that the food processing and packaging sector must leverage virtual spaces to better serve both customers and the environment, with digital solutions empowering the industry's future.
In Halls 7 and 8, where Chinese exhibitors were concentrated, visitor traffic remained consistently high. HeBei Packaging Technology (Cangzhou) Co., Ltd., a manufacturer of packaging machinery for food, condiments, health products, cosmetics, pet food, and pharmaceuticals, reported a global clientele spanning Southeast Asia and Europe. "Our customer portfolio includes multinational corporations like Nestlé and Unilever," revealed Senior Project Manager XXX.
